Celebrating Light for Concerts

This year the Allerheiligen Hofkirche was used for the first time as a festive backdrop for the summer´s chamber concerts organized by "friends" of the residence. Until the church was rebuilt few years ago, the ruins left by the war and threatened by demolition led a shadowy existence in the Munich urban landscape.

The Lighting Project
Even today the traces ot the war can be seen clearly inside the nave.. And because no agreement about future use has been reached yet, the interior décor has not been reproduced either. This temporary situation offered the possibility for OSRAM to design and implement  an unusual light solution for chamber concerts.

The Lighting concept
As basic lightings, high-voltage halogen spotlights fitted with OSRAM HALOLINE IRC 350W lamps shone from the gallery into the domes of the nave to accentuate the generous height of the church.
In the apse high-voltage halogen spotlights plunge the altar and the stage area in a festive light.
As a real eye-catcher for visitors, a special construction with fluorescent ring lamps was created. Arranged in irregular groups and asymmetrically stretched along a rope through the auditorium, the lights produce a highlight, as a counterpoint to the symmetrical architecture of the church.

The filigree construction gives some observers the impression of floating “halos”. To deflect attention away from the lighting installation during the concert, the complete lighting installation could be dimmed from 1 – 100% by the use of electronic control gears OSRAM HF DIM 1x36/230-240.
