Internal investigations at Osram are under way:
Zero tolerance for discrimination
Munich, November 2004 - Comments on the charges filed by a Cameroon born employee of Osram SASU in France together with the League Against Racism and Antisemitism (Licra), Bas Rhin district and the CFDT (Democratic French Confederation of Labour) against a group of Osram employees. There is also a charge of racial discrimination against Osram and a direct line manager.
The offence is reported to have taken place in January 2003 at Osram’s Molsheim works. The gendarmerie has started to investigate the case.
Internal investigations at Osram headquarters are under way too. “We are doing everything we can to establish the facts. We offer the investigating authorities every assistance and then take whatever action is necessary. This includes action against those involved under industrial law”, said Dr. Wolf-Dieter Bopst, CEO of Osram.
Dr. Bopst is shocked by the allegations. “As an international company we do not tolerate discrimination in any form. There is no place in our company for such behaviour.” In a letter to Théodore N’Kamdo, the company expressed its deep regret about the events that he described and invited him to a private meeting to help build up a clearer picture of the incidents.
