Reorganisation brings closer contact with customers:
Osram renames Photo-Optic Division to Display/Optic Division
With effect from October 1, 2004, the Photo-Optic division of Osram is renamed as Display/Optic. The division is now no longer organised by technologies but by areas of application. The four Global Business Units for the Display Systems, Entertainment, Cinema and Semiconductor & Medical applications will have responsibility for worldwide business.
“This reorganisation will put us closer to the market so we can react more quickly to customer needs. In our extremely dynamic business environment this is a crucial factor for future success,” said Siegmar Proebstl, Head of Display/Optic division. Mr Proebstl expects display applications to show rapid market growth over the next few years. Osram will be providing its customers with video projection solutions, the mercury-free Planon flat lamp and LED applications for backlighting and projection, all from a single source.
All four Global Business Unit managers previously held management positions in the division. Dr. Bernd Straehler is responsible for Display Systems, Georg Lechermann for Entertainment and Dr. Carsten Setzer for Semiconductors & Medical. Paul Caramagna is responsible for Cinema and will be joint-managing the business of the division in North America.
