Changes in Osram Management Board
- On January 1, 2006, Johannes Närger (45) will succeed Thomas Seeberg (63) as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Seeberg’s responsibilities as Executive Vice President Human Resources will be assumed as of that date by Kurt Gerl, Chief Sales Officer (CSO). - Claus Regitz (48) will take Jörg Schaefer’s (64) place as Chief Technical Officer (CTO) as of April 1, 2006.
- Seeberg and Schaefer will be retiring as planned.
Johannes Närger,b. 1960 in Munich, Germany studied business administration in Munich after an internship at Siemens’ headquarters in Berlin. He then began his career as a financial analyst with Morgan Stanley in New York. After taking his MBA at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, Närger went on to work for McKinsey in New York and Munich. In 1995 he joined Osram as head of our Corporate Controlling Department for Subsidiaries for the North American and Asian Regions. He subsequently took up executive positions in the Controlling department of our North American subsidiary. From 2001 Närger served as CFO for Siemens Medical in the U.S., from December 2004 he worked on strategy projects in Munich. In August 2005 he returned to Osram. Närger is married and has three children.
Claus Regitz, b. 1957 in Ludwigshafen on the Rhine, Germany, studied physics at the University of Kaiserslautern and began his professional career as a development engineer with Osram in Munich. After various executive posts in development and production, Regitz in 1994 became Technical Director of Radium GmbH in Wipperfürth, a wholly-owned Osram subsidiary. In 1999 he took over as director of our Bavarian plant in Eichstätt, in 2001 he also became our Business Unit Manager for halogen lamps. In October 2002 Regitz transferred to Osram Opto Semiconductors, where he serves as Chief Operating Officer for Production and the Supply Chain. Regitz is married, with two children.At the Annual Report Press Conference in Munich, Osram CEO Martin Goetzeler thanked his outgoing colleagues, who are retiring in one and four months, respectively, for their achievements to date. Dr. Seeberg came from Siemens to serve as Osram’s CFO in 1998. Dr. Schaefer has been with the company since 1982, and in the capacity of CTO since 1991: "Together with my predecessor, Wolf-Dieter Bopst," remarked Goetzeler at the conference, "Schaefer and Seeberg have made Osram what it is today: a high-tech company in the lighting industry and one of the world’s two leading lighting manufacturers."

On the company
Osram is one of the two leading lighting manufacturers in the world. Sales for the Osram group of companies worldwide in the year ending September 30, 2005 totalled 4.3 billion euros, 88 percent of which came from outside Germany. Osram has developed from a classic light bulb manufacturer into a high-tech company in the lighting industry. Around 40 percent of sales comes from innovative products. This global player employs more than 38,000 people worldwide, supplies customers in some 150 countries and has 49 production facilities in 19 countries.
