OSRAM expands its production of energy-saving lamps

OSRAM the lighting manufacturer and Tony Yim the Chinese manufacturer have been granted after the approval of the EU-commission to jointly establish a company for manufacturing compact fluorescent lamps for Asia and Latin America.

The new company, in which OSRAM is to have an 80 percent share, will operate under the name of Sunny World (HK) Limited and have its headquarters in Hong Kong.

The Chinese partner will be contributing a plant in the Shanghai conurbation to Sunny World (HK) Limited. With this latest venture, OSRAM is further expanding its production capacity for this region so that it can continue to participate in the strongly growing markets of Asia and Latin America.

"We are pleased to have found an experienced partner in Tony Yim with whom we want to create additional production capacity for high-quality OSRAM energy-saving lamps", said Martin Goetzeler, President and CEO of OSRAM. Around 90 percent of this capacity is designated for the booming markets in Asia and Latin America.
