Everything you need to know about halogen lamps
Four preconceptions about the new OSRAM Halogen Energy Savers completely refuted
Halogen lamps consume large amounts of electricity, have tiny pin bases and complicated transformer arrangements are needed to operate them ... that's more or less what some consumers think. They tend to completely overlook the benefits that halogen lamps offer.
What most people do not know is that halogen lamps produce the same good light as incandescent bulbs. And now Halogen Energy Savers from OSRAM offer energy savings of up to 30%, have a srew base and fit in nearly every type of light fitting. Surprised? Here are the responses to the four harshest preconceptions.
1. Are Halogen Energy Savers available only with pin type bases?
Consumers can enjoy the benefits of halogen light in normal screw type light fittings. For bedside lights, large table lights or living room lights, Halogen Energy Savers are available in standard shapes with screw bases to provide the right light. The greatest advantage of Halogen Energy Savers from OSRAM over ordinary light bulbs is that they also help save energy - by as much as 30 %.
2. Do Halogen Energy Savers get very hot?
Halogen Energy Savers get no hotter than ordinary light bulbs. The reason for this can be explained by taking a look at the way a halogen lamp is constructed. The inner bulb (burner) shields the outer bulb from the heat emitted by the filament.
3. Do Halogen Energy Savers waste electricity?
Compared with standard halogen lamps, Halogen Energy Savers are more energy efficient, have been placed in Energy Class C + D and offer energy savings of up to 30%. And all without compromising on light color or the quality of light.
4. Do Halogen Energy Savers produce glare?
The fact that people are occasionally dazzled by artificial light is not something that is unique to halogen lamps. Every lamp produces bright light that should not be looked at directly. To protect the eyes from this artificial light, luminaire manufacturers for example therefore incorporate lampshades and covers in their products and ensure that the luminaires are designed to provide a pleasant atmosphere. If a luminaire still produces glare a lamp with a lower wattage or a light source with a frosted bulb can be fitted.
