New Osram software:
Light for facility management
Osram is presenting its "light@FM" planning software for integrating light into facility management at the light + building fair. Budget planning can now be placed on a firm footing. The software opens up enormous potential savings.
Up to now, FM programs have not adequately covered the lighting aspect, even though lighting may account for between 40 and 80 percent of the overall electricity consumption of a building, depending on its use. It is therefore well worthwhile using the new Osram software.
The program offer an inventory of all the luminaires, lamps and control gear on the property. This documentation is followed by an analysis of the economy of all the light fittings and therefore of the lighting system as a whole. An optimisation function automatically identifies critical points, offers suggestions for improving the situation with new lamp and system technologies and calculates the potential savings.
The "light@FM" forecasting function is particularly useful. Simulation of consumption values and forecasts for replacement requirements also save costs and enable stock keeping to be optimised. Demand-led ordering means that overstocking or incorrect stocks are avoided. The new program provided support for users who have little knowledge of lighting technology so they can make the right choices for initial purchases and replacements. The impressive functionality of the program even includes reminders for maintenance work and quality checks.
And there’s good news for anyone working with sensitive planning data. Users alone decide which local computers or internal networks are to be used for storing the data. They are also free to choose whether to use the database supplied or an existing database architecture. Project data can be imported and exported at any time in various formats. FM managers therefore have full control over their data.
The program is freely available at www.light-fm.com.
