MUNICH - The greatest challenge facing manufacturers of modern headlights and lamps is not only to provide more light but also ensure that light is properly spread on the road. OSRAM is now launching the new Silverstar H4 and H7 headlight lamps that shine up to 50% more light on the road than standard lamps.

MUNICH - The greatest challenge facing manufacturers of modern headlights and lamps is not only to provide more light but also ensure that light is properly spread on the road. OSRAM is now launching the new Silverstar H4 and H7 headlight lamps that shine up to 50% more light on the road than standard lamps.

The light is distributed in such a way that at the crucial distance of 50 to 75 metres in front of the vehicle there is a much higher brightness level, up to 50% higher depending on the type of headlight. The cone of light is lengthened by as much as 20 metres which means drivers can see much further ahead at night time. This in turn means greater safety for all road users because drivers, particular elderly drivers, will be able to see pedestrians, cyclists, road signs and obstructions much earlier. Good light plays a crucial role in road safety. The extra time that drivers have in which to react can be a life-saver.

Silverstar is also welcomed by those who appreciate good design. These headlight lamps have silver cups, unlike standard lamps with their dark grey ends. This not only makes them look better in themselves but gives the entire headlight system a coordinated look. Silverstar lamps look good in modern clear-glass headlights because there is no dark end to spoil the high-class effect. The silver cup retains its sparkle throughout its life.

The new OSRAM Silverstar lamps will be available in retail outlets as H4 and H7 lamps from the end of January. The see-through packaging ensures the eye-catching silver cup is instantly visible.
