New 4ArXS HSD lamp family:
New additions and a change of name
There are three new additions to Osram’s highly practical HSD family, which is now being marketed under the new name of 4ArXS. The single-ended metal halide lamps of the new UL type (Ultra-Longlife) have an impressive life of 6000 hours. They are available in three wattages with a colour temperature of 7500 K.
The three HSD 150 W/UL/75, 250 W/UL/75 and 575 W/UL/75 are perfect whenever something needs placing in the spotlight. The new name of 4ArXS will be used right across the board and means "for Architainment eXtreme Seal". These mechanically robust metal halide lamps with outer bulbs are used for a wide range of demanding lighting tasks, particularly for architecture lighting, in clubs and in other entertainment applications. The life of the lamp is prolonged by a special filling system that reduces devitrification of the bulb and keeps the light colour and the luminous intensity more or less constant throughout the life of the lamp.
Characteristic features of these effect light lamps are the short arc and the high luminous efficacy of up to 90 lm/ W. The arc length is 5 mm in the 150 and 250 W versions and 7 mm in the 575 W version. The lamps also benefit from eXtreme Seal technology (XS technology), which stabilises the lamps against thermal stress. A protective coating encloses the thermally sensitive area of the power leads so that it can withstand temperatures up to 450°C. The single-ended lamps are designed for cold restarting and can be operated with either electronic control gear or conventional control gear.
