Pineal gland

The pineal gland is also known as the pineal body, corpus pineale or epiphysis. The pineal gland sits in the center of the brain and is a protuberance of the diencephalons or interbrain. The main product of the pineal gland is the hormone melatonin which is secreted into the bloodstream during the dark hours.
